If you’re looking for the best golf courses in Minneapolis, you don’t have to look very far. Within 20 miles of Minneapolis, you’ll find 65 courses and 40 municipal tracks. Chaska Town Course made our list, and this one hosted the 2006 U.S. Amateur League. 

Golfing in Minnesota is second nature, and that’s why this state has more golf players per capita compared to any other state in the country. 

Best Golf Courses in Minneapolis

Deer Run Golf Club

This course is a public 18 hole course with a par 71. The course opened in 1989 and they’re open between April and November. 

People have nothing but good things to say about this course. They speak highly of the comfortable golf carts, easy and straightforward parking, and automated tee system. The fairways are wide, and there is plenty of space between you and the neighboring housing development. 

The greens are large, smooth, and fast with a few breaks. It’s a reasonably short course but an overall great experience for beginner and expert golfers. This is definitely one of the best golf courses in Minneapolis!

Forest Hills Golf Club

Forest Hills is an 18 hole private course with a par 72. The course opened in 1961 and they’re open between April and November. 

According to Golf Advisor, this course ranked number five among the top courses in Minnesota in 2018. 

Many people have great things to say about the course. They say that it’s a challenging one with fast green and thick rough. Long hitters enjoy the doglegs. The pace is quick, and the design of the course is fun and entertaining. Overall, most golfers express their satisfaction with the course and say that they would come back to this gem in the Twin Cities. 

Eagle Valley Golf Course

Next on our list of golf courses in Twin Cities is a public, 18 hole course with a 72 par. The course opened in 1998 and it runs from April through November. 

According to Golf Advisor, this course ranked number 15 in 2018 for top courses in Minnesota. 

Golfers say that this course is always well maintained and they love the layout of the course. The staff is friendly, and they have a great driving range, chipping area, and putting green. Many golfers also say that they appreciate the challenges of this course, and they think that the greens are fast. 

Overall, most of the reviews are five stars for Eagle Valley, and everyone seems to have a great time golfing on this course. 

Loggers Trail Golf Club

Loggers Trail is an 18 hole public course in Stillwater. The course opened in 2003 and was ranked number 15 in 2017 for the best golf courses in Minnesota. 

Many people have a lot of great things to say about the staff at this golf course. They talk about friendliness and helpfulness when it comes to issues or concerns. Golfers love the carts, and the layout of the course is above average. 

The course features wide-open fairways with wooded and link-style holes. It’s not a beginners course, but there are places to bail out if necessary. Most golfers can’t say enough good things about Loggers Trail Golf Club. 

Chaska Town Course

Chaska Town Course is an 18 hole, municipal golf course in Chaska Minnesota. The course is ranked number one on GolfAdvisor for 2018, number six in 2017, and number two in 2016. 

The bent grass fairways looked like greens, and the tees came through perfectly even after the winter. The course has excellent playing conditions and all golfers reviewing this course recommend giving it a chance. 

They do an excellent job of including a solid layout with great conditions. The lines from tee to green are high-quality, and the price is fair considering it’s a municipal course. The only downside some people state is that the fairways are a little thin. 

Stoneridge Golf Club

Stoneridge is an 18 hole semi-private golf course in Stillwater Minnesota. The course opened in 2000 and it features bent grass fairways and greens. The course ranked number 14 in 2016 on Golf Advisor.

The course is a tough test for many amateur golfers. It’s slightly longer than 7000 yards, and it might not seem tough initially, but it’ll catch up to you. Many people prefer Royal Golf Club which is right up the road, but if you’ve played both, you’ll know that Stoneridge is the real challenge. 

It has an old-school, rustic appearance with a nice clubhouse, and a great patio, and you’ll feel like you’re at a resort when you’re there. For one of the best values in Minnesota, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better.
