History of Deephaven MN

The city started in 1900 as a western suburb of Minneapolis and St. Paul. As a small city, there is an estimated population of 3,677. The city has public beaches and two city marinas that accommodate 312 boats. The recreation areas offered by the city include public parks with tennis courts, baseball fields, platform courts, playgrounds, basketball courts, and walking, hiking, and biking trails. Elementary Schools

Deephaven Elementary is one of the best elementary schools in the state. It has been recognized as a national blue ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education and covers material for students grades K-5 and has roughly 670 students. The student-to-teacher ratio is 15-1.

If you’re looking for a school that’s known for putting its students first, look no further. Deephaven Elementary is the only public school within city limits currently.

Private Schools in Deephaven

Deephaven has one private school. St. Therese Catholic School offers education to students in grades PK and K-8. There are roughly 264 students with a student-to-teacher ratio of 7 to 1. Tuition for the year is $4,995 for the highest offered grade.

Beanhaven Cafe

Beanhaven has been serving some amazing meals to its customers since it started in 1995. They serve up some of the best breakfast items in the area. Better yet are the Hot and Cold sandwiches and the soups that they serve with them. A restaurant like this is just what a small town like Deephaven has to have. Located right on the border of Minnetonka and Deephaven is another restaurant gem. Spasso serves up some excellent Italian cuisine and offers a wine bar. Their menu and wine selection are nothing short of amazing. There are so many great choices that make it an exciting and fun place to eat. They’ll also host your special events or occasions. Nautical Bowls

Are you a fan of superfood bowls, Açaí, and other health-friendly foods? This organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, and plant-based shop serves up some delicious and nutritious treats. This small Minnesota brand started in 2018, launched a food truck in 2019, and have expanded to a second location in 2020. That’s a lot of Nautical Bowls! Wayzata shopping mall

An excellent shopping experience isn’t too hard to find in this area. If you’re interested in all different kinds of small shops, be sure to check out Excelsior and Wayzata while you’re at it!

Cottagewood Store

Cottagewood serves breakfast and flatbreads along with ice cream! 2020 marks their 125th season serving Deephaven, Minnesota. 125 years in service also makes them one of the longest-standing businesses in the area. They were open even before Deephaven was a city. The store is open from May to October and offers everything from food and coffee to merchandise and apparel.

The Wabi-Sabi Shop

A local treasure is this fine home and furniture consignment shop. Whether you’re looking to sell items of your own or you need to find some unique treasures to furnish your home, this is always a fun stop. Best Parks and Recreation

Burton Park

Burton Park offers a great scenic nature trail with amazing views of Carson Bay. There are park benches and a fishing pier that you can enjoy if you’re looking for a fun pass time with your kids or grandkids.

Deephaven Beach

The beaches that Deephaven offers are second to none. The Main beach offers supervised swimming, a tennis court and sports court, canoe racks, trail access, a picnic area, and swings. If you’re looking for the perfect beach to enjoy in Minnesota, this is the spot. Deephaven even takes regular samples of the water to ensure that swimmers are protected from any polluted water.

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is a great year-round city park. There are ice skating rinks and sledding hills in the winter, open fields to enjoy, a playground for the kids, park benches, and a pond with walking trails throughout.
