In recent months we’ve been covering different cities in an effort to show off some of the beauty throughout Minnesota and also to help you when deciding on a place to live. This month we’re going to be looking at Inver Grove Heights. This city is a Minneapolis suburb that borders Egan, Cottage Grove, and Rosemount to its south.
Before we dive too deep into Inver Grove Heights, here are links to some of the other cities that we’ve written similar guides on. Prior Lake, White Bear Lake, Medina, Deephaven, Linden Hills, Minnetonka, Wayzata, and Edina are all cities that we’ve written guides on. We’re going to continue writing more in the future so be sure to be on the lookout!
Inver Grove Heights Schools
The Inver Grove Heights School district isn’t a very large district when compared to some of the cities around it. Located in Dakotah county the school system serves roughly 3,500 students from elementary through highschool. They boast a graduation rate of nearly 90% and have an overall score of B from niche.com.
Here’s a break down of some of their top or largest schools.
Antheneum is the best elementary school within this district and serves around 200 students. It’s not a large school but the school does show some great test scores! In fact, 95% of their students move on to middle school being profienct in math and reading. Those are some really great numbers!
There’s only one public middle school within this district and it currently has around 600 students enrolled. The test scores at this school aren’t quite as good as the elementary school mentioned above but the school has been improving in recent years. Most students only come out at roughly 50% proficient in math and reading. If you find yourself looking for alternatives to this school there are some private schools in the area.
Roughly 1,200 students attend the Simley Senior High School and niche.com gives the school a B+. With a 20 to 1 student to teacher ratio, students are performing at a below-average level and recording only a 40-50% proficiency upon graduation. This is an unfortunate number but like the above middle school. Strides are being made to address this problem in an attempt to compete with some of the other schools in the area.
